Adventures in Toddler-hood

Hi!  Howdy!  Hola!  How ya' Doing?

I know, I know... It's been a while... ...and there is SO MUCH to post!
Since I’ve been keeping Mommy and Daddy so busy lately, I’ve been told that it’s almost impossible to tell the story of my antics properly if it has to be divided up into the months where things happened.
Sure – I get that – I’ve been up to so many fascinating new things that it’s hard to say when things started or even where they’re going.  To break it down for you, I’m growing like a weed, I’m more curious than any ten scientists, and I’ve earned the nickname my awesome nanny Maria gave me: “Lokito”  Check it out…
(p.s., Mommy says I should tell you that “Lokito” is an affectionate name that means “Little Crazy One”)

May: Playing with Daddy’s Birthday balloon:

Yeah yeah, I know… I said I wouldn’t place things by month, but Daddy’s birthday was the first really new and unusual thing that happened.  Daddy’s work friends gave him a balloon as a present.  Then he brought it home.  Then it was MINE!

Playing outside:

As the weather got warmer, I started to LOVE playing outside!  Morning, Afternoon, Evening, whenever, wherever… Outside is WAY better than inside!

When it was Winter, I was Little, and I didn’t understand why Mommy wanted to bring me outside.  I mean, I was warm and fluffy and all, but was it fun?  Not so much..

HOWEVER…
In early spring, there was one particularly beautiful morning.   I left my balloon long enough to start exploring the back deck.  I did go back and check on it occasionally, but for the most part, this was the beginning of my outside adventures…

Since then, I really like playing in the back yard...

Mommy takes me to the park a lot...

The afternoon on the first day of daylight savings time.  I was too sleepy to play,
but I was content to watch all the other kids run around!

Playing with some dried grass...

Making the obligatory stop in the dirt pile on the way to the playground...

I love to play in (and with)  the water…

Bath Time

Next to being outside, my favorite time is BATH TIME!!!  I love splashing and playing with the bubbles!   One day Daddy re-created my old Mohawk.  It felt a little funny, but I just rolled with it.  Mommy and Daddy thought it was hysterical

Things I’ve gotten good at:

Going to sleep (not)
What better time to practice talking than when I'm "supposed" to be sleeping?

Eating:
So, you remember that outdated “pincer move” that mommy was thrilled with?

Learning how to move fingers and thumbs together.  Been there, done that.  Now, I’ve got spoons, and the occasional fork…and a whole lotta attitude:

Running:
Last time Mommy posted, I was walking.  Yeah, boring old walking.  I know she was all sorts of excited about it, and that was great and all, but since then…I’ve discovered (wait for it) …RUNNING!!!!!  Running is awesome!!!  Why take a whole minute to get somewhere when you can get there in half the time?

***Note:  Between when my exploits were recorded for posterity and when the illustrations were provided, there was a glitch in the system.  Evidently when I dropped Mommy's phone all her pictures went away!  (Sorry everyone!!!  Mommy's working on getting more pictures and videos of me running, but here's a little sample for now...An action shot of me at Daycare, and a video of me playing in the park with my friend Maddie...

Now I’ve got what Mommy calls “the Zooms”.  Evidently “zooming” roughly means to go really fast and make a loud noise on the way…

Kicking:
Yeah, I’ll admit it… I’m good at kicking.  I mean, really really good at kicking…  Maybe it’s because I spent so much time cheering on  Mommy and Daddy while they play soccer (trust me – I was cute even though no one thought to take pictures), or maybe it’s just my natural inclination, but I love to kick things.

***Note:  Mommy's working on getting more pictures and videos of me playing kickball and soccer.  She'll post some as soon as she gets some, hopefully this coming weekend...

Dancing
If there's music, I'm dancing.  It doesn't matter WHAT music - kid's songs, rock and roll, dance music, classical, whatever.  I love it all.  However, my favorite of all time is this one...
(FYI: Daddy says sorry for the camera angle on this one...it was a spur of the moment capture and they were enjoying my performance too much to remember the correct camera angle)

I’ve also started to teach Mommy and Daddy some “life lessons”.  I know that technically Mommy and Daddy are the bosses, but I personally feel the need to prove to them that I am absolutely my very own person.  So…Funny Story…

Mommy and Daddy gave me my first Time Out.  I earned it.  I know it.  To keep me from any toys, from playing, from anything I would have wanted to do, Mommy put me on a stool and said I had to stay there.  I wasn’t happy, but I stayed there.  Mommy took me down when Time Out was finished and play resumed.  But I had been given a new message:   There are ways to get a new point of view.   I didn’t expect it – I’d seen the furniture before, it just seemed like something you put food on.   Who knew that you could sit on something that wasn’t a highchair or a couch?  So after a while I walked on over, looked at the stool, and decided, why not?

Since then, I’ve been experimenting with couches, but so far my exploits have been undocumented.  So far…..

Random fun things:

Bubble time! :)

Relaxing with Daddy

Almost every Saturday and Sunday morning, Daddy and I let Mommy sleep in.  While she gets that extra hour or so, Daddy and I get up to all sorts of shennanigans.
